June’s Prayer Guide for our family is compiled from Bible verses about spiritual protection. The Bible is so full and rich of commands about how we are to live, about not fearing (how many times in the Old Testament is the command to ‘be strong and courageous, do not fear’?) about God’s goodness and protection and so on.
Late last week I started reading Deuteronomy after ploughing through the book of Numbers. Those Israelites!! Deuteronomy 1:8 jumped out at me. God telling Moses to go and take possession of what was already rightfully theirs. How often are we continuing to go around the mountain instead of striding in and taking possession of what is rightfully already ours spiritually?
This month is focused on praying spiritual protection around our family, especially our children. I have been reminded of this this last month. Times when I ‘remember’ to pray this way, I see God straighten their paths and bring miracles into being. Often, it can be the absence of any threat, hassles that we experience and it is not until I lapse in my prayers for their spiritual protection that I see the opposite become evident.
The Bible stresses the importance of our words. Isaiah 55:10-11 “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
As we pray big and bold declarations and Biblical truths over our children and ourselves, we are speaking life and expecting those words to come to fruition.
